About Us
Policy Centre for African Peoples (PCAP www.pcap.org.uk ) is a dynamic and innovative charity working to improve African and disadvantaged people’s lives through education, leadership development and social engagement. We are seeking up to 4 Trustees to help us with management, governance and fundraising.

• Or the accountancy and financial skills necessary to help us strengthen our financial management and transparency;
• Or the safeguarding, health and safety skills that will help us protect our young people and vulnerable service-users, as we have grown from a small into a nation-wide charity.
We are seeking candidates with the following competencies:

• Desirable – Safeguarding, health and safety and governance.
The commitment required is up to 4 hours per month, including quarterly meetings, normally in central London, but via Zoom for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19.
What Are We Looking for?
We are particularly looking for candidates with:
• The governance skills necessary to ensure that we run our charity in an accountable, transparent and professional manners;
• Or the accountancy and financial skills necessary to help us strengthen our financial management and transparency
• Or the fundraising or income generation skills, ideas or contacts that will provide us with the financial means necessary to sustain our long-term growth;
• Or the safeguarding, health and safety expertise necessary to make us adopt good policies and procedures, and protect our service-users and stakeholders.
What Difference Will You Make?
COVID-19 has raised our awareness of the reality that in order to survive and thrive as a charity enabling African and disadvantaged people of all ethnic origins to improve their lives, we need to build a core team of paid personnel. The pandemic has also provided us with irrefutable evidence that the lack of financial resources represents a huge threat to our charity’s capacity to serve its beneficiaries. We have started to remedy this by managing to raise enough funds for the next 12 months. We would like to consolidate this by building up our financial reserves, and by remaining transparent and accountable with the funds entrusted to us by funders. We would also like to strengthen our safeguarding procedures as we grow and serve more people.
In view of this situation, we are seeking Trustees with:
• The governance expertise we need to run our charity in a transparent, professional and effective manner.
• Or the accountancy and financial skills necessary to help us strengthen our financial management and transparency;
• Or the fundraising or income generation skills, ideas or contacts that will provide us with the financial means necessary to sustain our long-term growth;
• Or the management skills that will ensure that we respect safeguarding, health and safety and good practices.
What Is in It for You?
We are a welcoming, dedicated and fast-growing team that is making a very positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged people in the UK through education. Working with us is a uniquely rewarding experience, filled with exciting challenges, innovative thinking and laughter.
We will offer you:
• A values-led culture that will enable you to thrive as a Trustee;
• Many opportunities for growth and development;
• Flexible and remote working – you will be in total control of when and how you work as a Trustee.
