We are seeking an experienced qualified accountant to work with our operational team to help us with calculations of salaries and pensions, updating of our cashflow and management accounts spreadsheets, and production of our annual accounts.
What will you be doing? We urgently need an experienced accountant to help us manage our finances as we transition from a volunteer-run organisation to a charity with a growing team of paid staff. We are experiencing an increase in revenue as a result of Covid-19 raising awareness of the reality of African, black, ethnic minorities and disadvantaged people in the UK, and we would like to spare no effort to ensure that the money we are entrusted with is transparently accounted for and extremely well-managed.
We specifically need help with: • Calculations of salaries, pensions, national insurance contributions and taxes; • Updating of cashflow and management accounts spreadsheets • Preparation of our annual accounts.
We are seeking candidates who have: • Previous experience in finance, accountancy or bookkeeping • Strong IT skills • Ability to maintain independent and objective judgement • Strong organisational skills.
The commitment required is up to 4 hours per month.
What are we looking for in a volunteer? We are particularly looking for candidates who can show: • Commitment to the ethos of the charity • Reliability • Ability to maintain regular communication with the staff and trustees • An understanding of charity accounts • willingness to advise on budgets and funding bids.

The increased demand for our services has enabled us to grow and build. However, we need a qualified accountant to support us to manage our finances and ensure that we are accountable, transparent and professional.
We will ensure that we promptly provide the volunteer with all the information necessary to complete assignments, and they will have total flexibility as to when they help us.
